The First Horseman & the White Horse | Revelation 6

A suggested visual for the first Horseman (the Conquerer) and his White Horse as revealed in Revelation 6.
PDF documentation walks through my visual choices and the Bible description and also covers the basics of my workflow for designing this image.
The First Rider & the White Horse: my study notes
Intent. Created as part of a personal study on the visuals of the Book of Revelation. This art represents my personal suggestions and suppositions for the first Horseman and his Horse under the First Seal of Revelation 6.
- An open interpretation. We only know the color of the horse, the intent of the rider, and that the rider has a crown and a bow.
- A Roman official. I took a lot of artistic license with this piece, but I loosely based the appearance of the figure on a Roman military official.
- The victor’s crown. The Greek word for “crown” in verse 2 is stephanos, the laurel wreath given to the victors of various competitions. Roman officials, such as Julius Caesar, are often depicted with such a crown.
- Why gold? For the purpose of making this drawing maximally useful, I depicted this laurel wreath in gold, making it a diadem as well as a victor’s crown.
“Again, much of this is my own assumption and should not be taken as absolute! As usual, I strongly encourage Bible students to consider my underlying questions and assumptions for themselves and determine if the concept I’ve presented works.”
The rider comes out as the Lamb opens the Seven-Sealed Scroll; next comes the Second Rider & the Red Horse. Compare a very different white horse: the King on the White Horse, Revelation 19.
